Whenever soil, which is suspected of being polluted, is piled, it should be sampled according to the instructions of the ministry of environmental protection before removing it from the site. Pile sampling is performed manually from different locations on the pile, afterwards the samples are analyzed at a laboratory. The laboratory results allow the environmental consultant to recommend on how and where to remove the pile of soil from the site.
In parallel to sampling the pile, it is also necessary to sample the open pit from which the soil was excavated. This sampling is also performed manually on all walls and on the floor of the pit. Laboratory results allow the environmental consultant to decide whether the pit contains no more polluted soil or whether the excavation must continue.
