Soils include a gaseous phase which might include hazardous pollutants in their gaseous state. This allows the pollutants to move relatively freely in the soil and penetrate different places, such as groundwater or underground structures.
When there is a possibility for soil gas pollution it is necessary to examine the types and levels of pollution.
This test is performed by installing a “well”, through which the soil gas can be pumped into a designated canister for analytical testing of the composition and concentrations of the hazardous materials in the soil gas.
A decision regarding performing further environmental tests at the site or sealing the underground structure will be made according to the results of the analytical laboratory.
